LASER SERVICES FOR MELANIN RICH SKIN IN DALLAS, TX
LASER THAT WAS MEANT FOR YOUR SKIN
Dallas laser treatments for all skin tones & ethnicities
Most laser programs were designed for lighter skin and adjusted for everyone else. Adjustment is not the same as expertise.
Our specialist works across all six Fitzpatrick types. Her training is specific to how melanin interacts with light energy, which changes the wavelength, the fluence, the timing, and sometimes whether a treatment makes sense at all. If you've been told laser isn't for your skin, come in and let us actually assess your skin with experience.

The Fitzpatrick Scale
Every assessment starts here. The Fitzpatrick Scale measures how much melanin your skin produces, which determines how it absorbs light energy, and how we calibrate the treatment.
Higher Fitzpatrick types have more melanin competing with the laser's target. This means the wrong wavelength, energy level, or timing can cause burns, hyperpigmentation, or scarring. Getting it right requires real calibration, not a one-size-fits-all protocol.
How laser works
on melanin-rich skin
Laser energy targets specific pigments in the skin called chromophores. In hair removal, that's melanin in the follicle. In resurfacing, it's water in skin cells. The challenge with melanin-rich skin is that there's competing melanin in the epidermis that can absorb unintended energy if the treatment isn't properly calibrated.
Longer wavelengths bypass the epidermis and reach deeper targets safely. Lower fluence, longer pulse durations, and appropriate cooling are all part of how we protect the skin while still achieving results.
Before any laser treatment at One Seventy, we do a full skin assessment. We look at your Fitzpatrick type, your treatment history, and your goals. Then we configure the device and protocol to your skin, not to a generic setting that approximates your skin.
Injectable treatments for melanin-rich skin & ethnic facial anatomy
Laser handles what's happening at the surface like pigmentation, texture, uneven skin, while injectables address structure and volume underneath it. Our providers look at both during your consultation and laser services. For melanin-rich skin and ethnic facial anatomy, an integrated assessment is crucial to getting the best out of your results.

Meet Your Senior Laser Specialist, Theresa
Theresa brings 14 years of advanced laser medicine to every treatment, with a specialization that most providers in Dallas can't claim: genuine expertise in Black and brown skin, melasma, hyperpigmentation, acne scarring, and complex resurfacing on melanin-rich tones.
She's a nationally recognized educator, Sciton Luminary, and founder of AllSKN Aesthetics — a training platform built to raise the standard of laser care for patients of all skin tones. She has trained providers across the country. She is also certified across the field's leading platforms, including Sciton, Lutronic, Candela, Cynosure, and Lumenis.
At One Seventy, that depth of training shows up in treatment plans designed around your skin, your goals, and your long-term health, not a generalized protocol.
